Romance Tip : Eat Together

If you already live with your partner I'm sure you're eating together regularly... but have these dinners become ho hum and boring. Is it a rehash of the days events and then off to your respective corners of the sofa to watch a movie, check the email, and veg out before bed?  If you live alone have your dates gone from quite bistros where you talked for hours to quick meals before an evening of "coupledom".

Its time to bring the power a simple but elegant romantic dinner at home.  It doesn't have to be a huge ordeal either... sometimes a quick meal is all you're really going to want before the other activities on the menu.

Here is a quick check list on how to turn a meal into a romantic event:
  1. Anticipation - there is nothing more romantic than the anticipation of knowing something wonderful is going to happen.  So plan the night and tell your partner you've got something special brewing.
  2. Atmosphere - whether you like candlelight or moonlight think of what turns you on and create a mood.  Simple lighting is best with a few unscented (don't want it interfering with the food) candles or some dim overhead lights.
  3. Music - Do you have a song?  Maybe something you danced too when you first met? A little soft romantic music in the background will set the stage for what's to come.
  4. Menu - You can go all out with a 4 course meal or order in from your favorite take out place... the point is to do something special.  The point of the menu is not to drive you crazy cooking but to enjoy eating.  So if you both love gourmet cooking then make something amazing.  If neither of you know how to boil water... don't stress about it... get some delicious take out you both will enjoy.
The most important part of this experience is the reconnecting.  So turn off the phones (yes really... your job and friends can live without you for a few hours), turn off the TV, and enjoy each other again.  Don't just rehash the day but renew your passion and love for each other...

Just make sure to turn the stove off... you want to start a "fire"... just not in the kitchen!
