Maximize the Lifespan of Your Sex Toys!

Believe it or not, and even though your Battery Operated Boyfriend (B.O.B.) seems to be the gift that keeps on giving, sex toys do need to be replaced. In fact, depending on the amount of action your toy sees, it may have a very short life-span.

Here are some tips on how you can make your toys last as long as possible.

First and foremost, you should know the signs that your toy may show when it's time to saw farewell to it.

  1. Mechanical features may stop or slow.  If you have a fresh pair of batteries in it, and this is happening, it may be time to send your toy to the garbage dump in the sky.
  2. If there are visible cracks on the acrylic, plastic or glass that your toy is made out of…garbage dump.
  3. If you see corrosion in the battery pack, dear lord lady, what have you done? Just kidding. It's going to the garbage dump.
  4. If you notice mildew on or under the material your toy is made of, or if the material has deteriorated, you guessed it. It's garbage.
Obviously proper maintenance of your toy is key, and the maintenance depends on the type of material your toy is made out of. Here are some tips to help you keep your B.O.B. in its best shape.

Use the Appropriate Lubricant:
  1. A water-based lubricant, such as our ID Glide Lube can be used with any sex toy!
  2. Do not use silicone lubricants with silicone toys, or cyber-skin, or soft-skin toys.
  3. Oil based lubricants are not only bad for your toys made of latex or rubber (some silicon toys are also made of rubber), but it's also a big no-no to insert anything with oil based lube or petroleum jelly in your vagina. It could cause a vaginal infection.
Store them Properly: You can store toys in virtually any location that you feel comfortable with, however certain toys such as silicone toys should not touch because the material could deteriorate. So I recommend storing them in individual zip lock bags. They won't touch and they will be dust and dirt free. They should also be stored in a cool and dry place. Excess heat and sunlight can harm the materials. Excess cold can alos harm the material… So, the lesson here is, it is ok to store jewelry in the freezer, but not your sex toys. (I threw that in because I know a lady who hides her jewelry in her freezer.) You always want to clean and dry your sex toys before storing them.
It you store them wet you are allowing mold or mildew.  Another great tip is to remove batteries before you store toys because this will keep batteries fresher for longer and your toy functioning longer as well.

For God's Sake, Clean your Toys: Always clean your toy before and immediately after use, keeping water and cleanser away from the battery pack, or electrical components. The safest way to clean your toy is with an antibacterial soap. Fantasia sells a product called Before and After.  It successfully sanitizes toys and prevents the spread of germs/bacteria. It is non-irritating and safe to use on all toys' materials. It's also good to use on a brand spankin’ new toy to get rid of that new-toy smell. (psst, you can also use it to clean other things, like a child's toy to prevent the spread of germs).

You should know that you need to clean certain toys certain ways. Generally speaking, all toys and dildos, etc. should be cleaned with antibacterial soap and warm water, but here's a list of specifics for you:

Silicone toys: Antibacterial soap, Before and After, or boiling for two to three minutes. Yes, boiling a silicone sex toy, that DOES NOT HAVE AN ELECTRICAL COMPONENT is acceptable. If is does have an electrical component – DO NOT boil it.

Acrylic or Glass toys: Can be washed with antibacterial soap and warm water. They can also be submerged in hot water, but only if they DON'T HAVE AN ELECTRICAL COMPONENT.

Rubber, Latex and Jelly toys: Since these are very porous materials, it is important to wash them very thoroughly, also with antibacterial soap and warm water, but you must also rinse and make sure there is no trace of the soap left behind, because it can deteriorate the materials and irritate you.  It is recommended to use a condom with these toys.

There are some sex toys that are called Realistics.  They are made of materials such as Cyberskin, Futurotic, Neo Skin, Soft Touch, Ultraskin, and Fauxskin. Not only are these materials used to make vibrators and dildos, but also penis rings, and masturbatory sleeves. Wash them with warm water (not hot) and liquid antibacterial soap. When they are dry, sprinkle with the renewing powder, which often comes with the toy, or with cornstarch. (baby powder or talcum powder may irritate you, so stay away from it.)

Well, I hope this information helps you to keep your toys functioning as long as possible, but remember, when it comes time that you need to replace your toys, make sure you contact me so you can host a party and possibly get those new toys for free with your hostess credits! And... Don't forget to pick up some Before and After toy cleaner too!
